Polly & Ludo At Home In Staffordshire

Home

I always think there is something quite special about getting married from home. Especially when the reception is going to be there too! For us, it will mean we are often able to be on site a few days before. It gives a great insight into the family, everyones personalities, in a slightly more relaxed way than maybe they are on the actual BIG day. We almost always get chance to meet the family dogs that way too. That bit we like a lot! So the fact that Polly and Ludo held their wonderful reception in grounds of Polly’s family home was wonderful!

The other important home aspect of this wedding were the flowers. Almost all the blooms used in this wedding came from the home of Ludo’s family, Newby Hall. They were diligently cut and transported by the family gardener making this a really personal affair.

Collabs

It has to be said that Polly was a wonderfully relaxed bride and, while I only met her a handful of times, was a delight to work with. I came to be part of this wedding in collaboration with my good friend Emily of Emily Brighton Flowers. While she is a whizz with flowers, she hadn’t worked on such a large scale event before so asked if I would assist her, and of course I was super excited to do so!

Traditional

The whole day felt like a wonderful work of literature, with a stunning bride escorted to church by her dashing brother. The family standard fluttering above Sandon Church. Lots of cute little bridal party members, and some of the best tail coat and trouser combinations I have ever seen. Sartorial elegance is a thing here!

As the season was just turning from late summer to autumn we created a pair of flower towers for either side of the church entrance. These were a real wow and looked amazing with the foraged foliages used.

The the beautiful church had minimal decor, simply some statement urns at the top of the aisle, and some window displays next to where the register would be signed.

Party time

After the stunning ceremony the couple headed back home to host a wonderful reception for their family and friends. Just look at the car – it looks amazing doesn’t it?

Show stopper

The couple selected a clear top marque by Show Systems marques and it was quite a thing let me tell you! It had the most amazing disco ball, and huge Eddison Bulb chandelier that we decorated in huge runs of hops, specially cut and couriered from the wonderful Hop Shop in Kent. We used more hops to decorate above the tables. These were then sprinkled with fairy lights for evening magic!

We used more of the wonderful flowers from Newby Hall to decorate the four trestle runs. Each had a mix of medium and small eco glass vases, mixed with clear glass tea lights and tall taper candles. Even though the sun was streaming through the open sides, the candles added that little something extra. Just delightful.

Dancing into marriage

These photographs are just a perfect reflection of the day and they were captured by the incredible Flo Brookes Photography. Thanks Flo for sharing these with us!
