Becki & Martin At The West Mill

Click

Sometime you meet someone and you just click. You feel you have so much in common and could chatty afternoon away about everything and nothing. Well that’s exactly how it felt on first meeting with Becki. She is a warm, kind and very gentle soul. I liked her very much.

Long time coming

Becki told me all about Martin, herself, how they’d been together for a long time, and all the things they were hoping to have at their wedding. There were some hugely personal touches she was adding through the day, that bought a tera or two to my eye. She also spoke about the very distinct colour palette that she wanted to use. Greys, blues, hints of lilac and dirty porcelain pinks and a touch of moody foliage. It was a tight colour range and I knew it would be a bit of a challenge to source just the right tones, but there was no way I wasn’t going to nail it for this lovely lovely human!

Only the best-est

I went through all the options on auction with fine tooth comb and I think we nailed the colours! The final look was pulled together with a mix of King Protea, Earl Grey, Silverstone, Memory Lane roses, continus and eucalyptus foliages. there were the most magical two tone sweet peas, hydrangeas, succulents and tinted pampas in the mix too! These bouquets were a triumph! We also ordered lovely shades of hand died silk ribbon from Little Acorn Silks to finish the bridal bouquet.

Linked In

Something that Becki chose to do was spend a lot of time researching all her suppliers via Instagram. She found almost all of those involved by following threads across the ‘gram and seeing whose work she loved and who seemed to work well together. For me it was another amazing set up knowing that Jenni (Make up by Jenni), Helen (Helen Sutcliffe Hair) and Derbyshire wedding photographers HBA Photography were there. The vibes were good that day!

West Mill Style

I still love my visits to the West Mill as much as I did the first time I stepped through the door. The staff are first class, the venue is always just so and the feeling in the building is always warm and inviting. Becki and Martin were keen to style the venue in a way that let all the features of the historic site shine, but make it feel it was theirs too! She had custom candles created by Ethel and Co, and amazing signage was design by Nicola at Rose Press that was both stylish and a little bit fun!

We designed a stunning hanging back drop for the ceremony, that we moved to behind the top table, and added touches to signs and corners! The tables were simply styled with foliages and the most delightful tonal candles in concrete holders. It was RIGHT up my street!

All in all this was a really good day. The couple were so happy and in love, the atmosphere was relaxed and everyone was smiling. You’ll see that all this attention and effort paid off as their wedding was recently featured on the wonderful Love My Dress Blog.
