From my camera roll: A florist's diary

Catherine & James | Grangefields by Cripps & Co, Derbyshire

Catherine and James celebrated their wedding at the beautiful Grangefields by Cripps & Co in Derbyshire, and this was one of those weddings that perfectly demonstrates how lovely keeping things simple can be.

Their flowers began as one of my Ready To Go wedding packages, designed to provide beautiful, thoughtfully curated florals without the overwhelm. With a few last-minute additions, it evolved into the most elegant collection of bridal flowers and ceremony details.

Planning a wedding from the other side of the world could easily feel daunting, but Catherine and James organised their entire day from Australia. Everything was arranged virtually, making this the perfect Ready To Go scenario.

Catherine chose a soft palette of champagne and white, lifted with fresh foliage accents. The bridal party flowers featured Quicksand and Avalanche roses, Nigella, stocks, astilbe, astrantia, Duchess peonies and Neve pittosporum. It was such a pretty combination, full of texture and movement, with the Quicksand roses proving to be absolute perfection.

Alongside the bouquets and buttonholes, I created frothy gypsophila pew ends and a table meadow for the ceremony table, while Catherine's family dressed the reception tables themselves. It was a lovely example of everyone playing their part to bring the vision together.

As I had delivered and set everything in place before guests arrived, I don't have photographs of Catherine and James themselves or the celebrations that followed. Instead, these images capture the details I love most: the soft blush tones of the roses, the delicate layers of the peonies, the finishing touches on the ceremony table, and the quiet beauty of flowers waiting for the day to begin.

Sometimes it's these moments before the excitement starts that remind me why I love this job so much.

Thank you, Catherine and James, for trusting me to be a small part of your Derbyshire wedding story.
